University Housing has replaced old coin-operated laundry equipment with new card-activated washers and dryers in the on-campus residence halls as well as at Hawkeye Drive Apartments. Residents of University Housing can now use their University of Iowa ID cards to operate the new laundry equipment. Instructions for how to operate the new equipment are posted in each laundry room and are available below.
The equipment does not accept cash of any type, but instead operates with the University of Iowa ID card. Beginning Fall of 2007, Hawkeye Dollars can be used for laundry. Students and guests who have run out of Hawkeye Dollars or do not have Hawkeye Dollars will be able to add funds to their Hawkeye Dollars account at special station in Burge, Hillcrest, and Mayflower.
Another feature of this new system is an on-line component, the "LaundryView Monitoring System", which residents are able to access over the internet from their computers. The LaundryView Monitoring System reports which machines are available in each of the laundry rooms. Using another feature of the LaundryView Monitoring System, people may request to be notified by e-mail when washers or dryers become available in any given laundry room.
Users may report equipment malfunctions or request refunds either on-line or by dropping off a paper request at a 24-Hour desk. Please provide us with complete information to help us respond promptly to such requests.
