Parking Info

Should you bring your car to campus? Experience says no. Parking space on or near campus is at a premium—either very expensive to get, or else unavailable. And, the campus has been designed such that walking or taking Cambus is easier—and much less expensive—than trying to drive and park.

Registering Your Car with the University
Per the State of Iowa Board of Regents, students at The University of Iowa are required to register their vehicles with Parking Services within 48 hours of bringing it to campus.

For information about registering your vehicle, contact Parking Services.

Mayflower Parking
Mayflower Hall has a limited number of student parking spaces available for an additional fee. Residents of Mayflower may contact UI Parking and Transportation for further information.

Parklawn Parking
Parklawn Apartments has limited parking available for a fee. Parking for Parklawn tenants is available on a first come, first served basis. There is a limit of one parking permit decal per apartment. A parking permit can be requested at the time the tenant checks into their apartment. The parking fee is billed monthly on the tenant's University of Iowa bill.

Hawkeye Storage Lot
The University provides a for-fee storage lot on the far west side of campus for students in the residence halls who need their cars as transportation to and from the University. The Hawkeye-Interdorm Cambus route connects the residence halls to this storage lot, but it would be very inconvenient for everyday use. It can be as much as 40 minutes by bus from your residence hall to your car.

For information about obtaining a space in the Hawkeye Storage Lot, contact the Parking Services.
