Our vision is to be a residential program that aspires to excellence as a leader in campus living.
Mission
University Housing complements the academic mission of The University of Iowa by providing
clean, safe, and healthy housing and dining programs designed to meet the diverse developmental
and educational needs of students living in a multicultural community. Primary to the operation is a
dedicated staff that provides excellent service to our students and customers.
Core Values
Customer Service
University Housing strives to provide quality customer service—a desire by all staff to make
residents and guests feel welcome, to treat them with respect, and to show the pride our staff has
in working at The University of Iowa.
Facilities Management
University Housing provides a clean, safe, and secure environment for student living; mechanically
sound buildings; housing and dining facilities that meet the functional needs of residents; and
planning for the efficient use of personnel and resources.
Fiscal Responsibility
University Housing is a self-supporting enterprise funded solely through room and board revenues.
The department provides our students with quality facilities and services while maintaining the lowest possible rates.
Professionalism
University Housing staff exhibit a high standard of professionalism, which embodies behaviors that
are ethical, respectful, trustworthy, and exemplify competence and integrity.
Safety
University Housing creates and maintains a safe environment in which students can live and learn.
Acknowledging that personal safety is a partnership, we are dedicated to educating residents to
make informed choices.
Student Development
University Housing is committed to fostering the academic, social, cultural and personal growth of
residents through the teaching of life skills and responsible citizenship.
