Laundry in the residence halls

All laundry in the residence halls at Iowa is done using your Iowa One card (university ID). When you are ready to do laundry, bring your Iowa One card with you and swipe your card at the washing machine or dryer, just like you would at campus vending machines. Laundry loads cost $1.75 to wash, $1.25 to dry. Note: for spring semester 2024, laundry in Mayflower Hall is available at no cost to residents.

Swiping your Iowa One card is the only way to start your laundry.

Helpful laundry tips:

  • Make sure you use high-efficiency laundry detergent. The product label should have a small "HE" on it.
  • Do NOT overfill the machines. This can prevent your laundry from getting clean and cause damage to your clothes and the machine.
  • Swipe your Iowa One card to pay for your load of laundry. The machines do not accept credit cards.
  • Be sure to remove your laundry from each machine in a timely manner.

How to use the monitoring app

You do not need an app to do laundry in the residence halls. If you want to check machine availability or receive notifications of when your laundry is done, you can download the easy-to-use app, KioSoft CampusView:

Enter your email and create a password to register with KioSoft CampusView. There is no need to add a credit card to your account.

Then, select your laundry room (e.g. Hillcrest East-West) and you can see all available machines. When your machine is in use, select the bell symbol next to it to activate notifications for your laundry.

Problems?

If you run into an issue with your laundry, please enter a maintenance work order (be sure to note the location and machine number in your description of the issue) and submit a refund request, if applicable.
