ARH is the governing body of the residence halls and is comprised of students living in the residence halls here at Iowa. There are eleven halls in total—Petersen, Slater, Rienow, Quad, Hillcrest, Daum, Burge, Currier, Stanley, Mayflower and Parklawn. Each hall has their own hall association made up of ten students from that hall and is funded through your room and board contracts. The hall associations focus on planning events and championing changes in their halls.
If you are looking to make new friends, have a direct impact on what happens in your new home, serve on an executive board in your first year, grow in your leadership abilities, and make great professional connections, ARH is the organization for you. It doesn’t matter if you have previous leadership experience or not—ARH gives you multiple opportunities to learn in a safe and encouraging environment.
Elections will be taking place for the executive board from Tuesday, September 8 through Thursday, September 10. Students can vote by going to their hall front desks to submit a ballot. If you missed the deadline to apply, please contact your hall coordinator as there are positions that do not always get filled. Your hall coordinator will also be able to tell you about different ways to get involved within the residence halls.
As the year progresses, watch out for Casino Night (Tuesday, October 6) and The Hunger Games Mockingjay: Part Two premier (November 19), where we will be taking nearly 800 students to the premier- for FREE! We also have the opportunity to attend and take residents to both a regional and national conference where you can meet students from around the country who are involved in their residence halls and share experiences of how they create great environments in their residence halls. Email email@example.com if are interested or would like more information on ARH or any of the great opportunities we have in store for this year!
