November 16th-20th is Trans Awareness Week 2015! The UI Trans Alliance has prepared a week of events open to all UI staff, faculty, students, and community members.
Monday, November 16th
Trans Awareness Week Kick-off!

Free warm food and drink! Receive Advantage Iowa Credit Activity and learning stations about trans identities, history, figures, pronouns, and allyship.
Tuesday, November 17th
T. Anne Cleary Walkway | 11am-3pm |
Stop by to get some information about the trans community and learn about the UI Trans Alliance and other LGBTQ+ student organizations.
Trans Awareness & Allyship Workshop
IMU Nebraska Room | 1:30pm-3pm |
This interactive workshop is aimed at UI staff and faculty and will go over the basics of trans identities and how to be an exceptional ally. Register at tinyurl.com/TransAwareness.
Wednesday, November 18th
Trans Awareness Week Educational

FSL Educational and Advantage Iowa Credit available. This an educational event aimed at UI students (but open to all) who have little understanding of transgender topics.
Andrea Gibson Performance

Tickets available at box office. Andrea Gibson is an award-winning poet and activist whose poetry focuses on gender norms, politics, social reform and the struggles LGBTQ people face in today's society.
Thursday, November 19th
Transgender Day of Remembrance

Help memorialize the lives that were lost in the past year due to transphobic violence. Also hear from UI students and staff, including Vice President for Student Life,Tom Rocklin.
Friday, November 20th
Women's Resource and Action Center | 4pm-6pm |
Free food! Bring some food to contribute and build community with other UI students, staff, and faculty as well as Iowa City community members.
