Be-WISE: Women in Science and Engineering

Learning doesn’t have to end when class does! This community is sponsored by Women in Science and Engineering to bring together women from engineering, biological, physical, and health sciences. You will develop a network of friends and a built-in support system in this community of fun, active, and involved students who all share a drive to excel.

Programming for Be-WISE: Women in Science and Engineering

Programming for the Be-WISE Community includes opportunities to:

  • Learn from faculty during visits to working science and engineering labs across campus and explore issues relevant to your career, based on the book.
  • Have fun socializing with other WISE Women while decorating cookies, carving pumpkins, or having a movie night.
  • Get support from a Big Buddy – an upper-level Be-WISE student who will help you navigate the first few weeks on campus and from peer tutors who provide group sessions right in the LLC lounge!
  • Give back to the community by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, participating in a Habitat for Humanity build, or by providing science and engineering activities for 4th and 5th grade girls as part of the annual WISE Girl Scout Badge Day.

There is currently no course associated with the Be-WISE LLC.

Special Note: Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) also offers first-year women in STEM majors the opportunity to have an individually matched mentor and STEM-specific workshops through the WISE Peer Mentoring Program. This program is independent from the Be-WISE LLC although you may participate in both.
