Leaving for Break?

Before you leave for break, make sure you follow the steps below.

  • Turn off everything in your room and unplug what you can
    • Leave your refrigerator plugged in
  • Throw way all food in your room
  • Take out your trash to the dumpster
  • Make sure your window is closed and locked
  • Leave your heat on low
  • Remove all furnishing on or around the radiator
  • Make necessary arrangements for care of plants and fish
    • UH&D Staff will not provide care
    • Do not put any potting soil or other solid materials down drains
  • Lock your door, take your room key and student ID with you
  • An express check-out can be completed anytime the front desk is open in your hall.
  • Once your room is entirely empty and cleaned, please go to the desk to check out.
  • The desk clerk will help you take care of all of your checkout steps, which includes updating your mail forwarding address and returning your key.
  • Once you return your key, you will no longer have access to your room.
  • An RA will check your room at a later time, if there are damage charges, you will receive an email notification.

Staying on Campus?

Housing during Fall Break is free of charge, but requires registration. If you intend on staying, fill out the online form emailed to you by your hall coordinator. The deadline to register is 12:00 (noon) p.m. on November 13.


Please Note: Only students who have residence hall housing contracts are allowed to stay in their building/room over Fall Break. You are not allowed to loan your keys out to other students or guests.

Meal Plan Information

Meals during fall break will be served out of Clinton Street Market, Grand Avenue Market, and Mayflower Market. The menu will include hot entrees and sides. Students will pick up breakfast during dinner the night before.

Meals will not need to be preordered or ordered from an app. Students can simply visit the c-store and make their selections. Students will be able to use their market place meal swipes as payment during fall break. Other forms of payment that will be accepted include flex meal swipes, Herky booster pack swipes, meal share swipes, Hawk dollars, U-bill, and credit cards. View hours of service

Hall Desk Hours During Break

Open 24 hours: Currier

8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.: All other residence halls

Desks will close at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20.

Virtual Instruction desk hours will begin Sunday, November 29.
