Maintenance & Custodial Requests (for non-emergency repairs)

Our Custodial and Maintenance teams work 7 days a week to provide maintenance, repairs, and cleaning services to maintain your college home. We take good care of it for you so that you can focus your time on studying and being a Hawkeye. Custodial hours are from 8:00am - 4:00pm and Maintenance hours are from 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Currently, we process paper work orders at all residence hall front desks. An online work order system will eventually be put in place. To request a work order for non-emergency repairs follow these steps:

  1. Visit your residence hall front desk.
  2. Request a work order form.
  3. Fill out the top layer of the form.
  4. Return the form to the front desk.
  5. Your request will be processed within 24-48 hours.
  • Light bulb replacement
  • Sticky locks
  • Window screens replacement
  • Furniture repairs
  • Paging phone issues
  • Doors that are sticky, squeaky, hard to open or close but are otherwise operational
  • Showerheads that are not working
  • Problems with insects in rooms
  • Bed Lofting or De-Lofting (Please note: all roommates who occupy the room will need to sign the work order)

Maintenance & Custodial Requests (for emergency repairs)

Contact your Hall Coordinator or Hall Desk for emergency requests. 

  • Keys stuck in locks or resident room locks that aren’t working at all
  • Non-resident room doors that are not closing/locking properly
  • Doors that are unlocked that should be locked; doors that are locked that should be unlocked
  • Messes that need cleaning up (vomit, food/drink spills, blood, urine, broken glass, etc.)
  • Elevators that are malfunctioning
  • Malfunctioning equipment that cannot wait until the next working day (overflowing toilets, faucets that won't shut off, etc.)
  • Vital equipment that needs replacing (all toilet paper missing from a bathroom, all light bulbs removed from an area, etc.)
  • Problems with heat in rooms
  • Broken windows
