Online Work Orders for the 2020-2021 Academic Year: For students living in the halls this year, please wear your face covering when housing and dining maintenance staff are entering the room. If you do not have a face covering on, our staff will not complete the work order.

Maintenance and Custodial Requests (for non-emergency repairs)

Our Custodial and Maintenance teams work 7 days a week to provide maintenance, repairs, and cleaning services to maintain your college home. We take good care of it for you so that you can focus your time on studying and being a Hawkeye. Custodial hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Maintenance hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

All work orders are processed through an online system for non-emergency repairs. Follow these steps to place a work order:

  1. Select your building (e.g. residence hall) from the dropdown menu
  2. Select your room number 
  3. Type your First and Last name in the “Name” field
  4. Type in your email address in the “Email” field
  5. Select the task that you are wanting resolved (e.g. electrical, heating, sink, air conditioner, windows, ceiling, etc.) 
  6. Type in a description of the issue
  7. Click “Submit”

Please note: For bed lofting/de-lofting and problems with insects in your room, you will need to place a work order at your residence hall front desk. You cannot place an online work order for these issues. 

  • Light bulb replacement
  • Sticky locks
  • Window screens replacement
  • Furniture repairs
  • Paging phone issues
  • Doors that are sticky, squeaky, hard to open or close but are otherwise operational
  • Showerheads that are not working

Maintenance and Custodial Requests (for emergency repairs)

If you have any issues with your door not locking, you should speak with your hall front desk immediately. Additionally, any internet, WiFi or cable issues please contact ITS Helpdesk. A work order is not advised for these issues. 


  • Keys stuck in locks or resident room locks that aren’t working at all
  • Non-resident room doors that are not closing/locking properly
  • Doors that are unlocked that should be locked; doors that are locked that should be unlocked
  • Messes that need cleaning up (vomit, food/drink spills, blood, urine, broken glass, etc.)
  • Elevators that are malfunctioning
  • Malfunctioning equipment that cannot wait until the next working day (overflowing toilets, faucets that won't shut off, etc.)
  • Vital equipment that needs replacing (all toilet paper missing from a bathroom, all light bulbs removed from an area, etc.)
  • Problems with heat in rooms
  • Broken windows
