Scholarship opportunities

David Coleman scholarship
This scholarship is named in honor of David Coleman, who was a graduate of University of Iowa and held multiple positions in University Housing and Dining for over 35 years.
Mr. Coleman was an advocate for students who needed (and deserved) a second chance. He encouraged them to achieve their goals in spite of obstacles.
Amount: $1,000
Qualifications: Current residence hall student who has overcome adversity to attend college.
Deadline: March 24, 2025, by 11:59 p.m.
George L. Droll award
This award is named in honor of George L. Droll, who contributed most of his professional life to the University of Iowa.
Mr. Droll was the director of Residence Services for 15 years after spending 20 years in the UI campus dining operation. He devoted his career to enhancing the living and learning environment in campus housing and dining.
Amount: $1,500
Qualifications: current residence hall student who has demonstrated strong citizenship and contributed to establishing a positive residence hall community on their floor.
Deadline: March 24, 2025, by 11:59 p.m.
Dining student employee scholarship
This scholarship is made possible by Nestle Coffee Partners, our coffee vendor.
Up to nine scholarships are provided every year to qualified student dining employees.
Amount: $1,000
Qualifications: Current dining student employee who has worked a minimum of 250 hours with University Housing and Dining and will be returning to work in dining in the fall of 2025.
Deadline: March 24, 2025, by 11:59 p.m.
