When the academic year closes and students move out, the University Housing and Dining staff doesn't pack up for the summer. Once the Residence Education staff have completed room checks and assessed any damages, our custodial and maintenance crews get to work making any repairs or upgrades to have the rooms disinfected and ready for the next residents.
In addition to the standard cleaning, repairs, and any reconfigurations in our facilities, we have some larger projects this summer.
- Improvements to the first floor of Mayflower Hall: relocating and expanding the fitness center to the front of the building for better visibility and views, transforming the multipurpose room into an open study lounge with four adjacent two- to four-person study rooms, refreshing finishes across multiple rooms.
- Updates to Mayflower Market: adding a window to bring more light into the c-store, new flooring and rearranging equipment for easier traffic flow.
- Tuckpoint work on Stanley Hall, repair mortar to prevent moisture infiltration.
- New countertops and shelving at Food For Thought Cafe, in the Main Library.
- Add restrooms within Burge Market Place.
- Burge lobby will get new flooring and the removal of the half-wall area across from the desk to improve ease of movement through the area.
