How it works
We're glad you've chosen to live with us during summer break! You are eligible for summer housing if you fit the requirements listed below.
Step 1: Review requirements
Summer housing is available to you as a University of Iowa student if you meet one of the following requirements:
- If you are registered for a minimum of one summer academic credit.
- If you are participating in a university-sponsored activity.
- If you are participating in a research laboratory, athletic training/competition or on-campus internship.
- If you are a May 2025 graduate, you must move out of the residence halls by July 1, 2025.
Note: non-UI students may receive housing if they are part of a summer camp or conference sponsored by the University of Iowa that has arranged for housing as a part of its program.
Step 2: Submit your online application
If you would like to stay during the summer, you will need to fill out an application located in the housing portal. This must be filled out by April 30.
Step 3: Select a meal plan
You are required to have a meal plan when you live in the residence halls. You can select from the following options below.
- 200 Meal Block: $1,700
- 150 Meal Block: $1,363
- 100 Meal Block: $977
- 50 Meal Block: $520
Summer meals will be served out of Catlett Market Place, May 31 – August 1, 2025. Students with a summer meal plan will have dining options at the Iowa Memorial Union from May 19 – 31, 2025. Hillcrest Market Place will be open June 9 - July 18 for lunch service only.

Step 4: Review expectations
You'll want to review the terms and conditions for the contract. All students are bound to these during the summer, regardless of the occupancy period.
You will also need to agree to the additional terms and conditions below:
- All furniture must remain in rooms and beds will remain in their current configuration. De-lofting requests will only be permitted for students with documented disabilities.
- The contract holder may cancel this contract on the application portal up to seven days prior to moving in.

Room assignment and cost
Summer housing is available in Daum Hall from May 19 to August 9, 2025 at 12 p.m. (noon).
University Housing and Dining will make all summer room assignments. Our team does our best to accommodate all single room requests, but we cannot guarantee them.
