General information

Below you will find more information about staying with us during the summer months.

Guest service

Our conference administration team and several additional University Housing and Dining staff members work year-round to ensure several residence halls on both sides of campus are available to host our summer guests.

During your stay, each residence hall is staffed by front desk guest services representatives, a facilities team, a hall coordinator and a camp/conference assistant. We can help you with everything from getting around campus, finding local favorites, lock outs, maintenance and custodial requests and more.

Wi-Fi

Guests who stay with us will enjoy free wireless service. To take advantage of this service, select the "UI-Guest" network when configuring a device for wireless access. For more information, visit the Information Technology Services website.

Linen packages

Guests are automatically provided with complimentary bed linens, a pillow, and front desk guest service.

Safety and security

Each day during the summer season, at least one camp/conference assistant and one hall coordinator are on-call in each residence hall 24/7. A building staff member will periodically walk through all areas of the building with an eye on safety and security, as well as attending all check-ins and assisting guests with their needs. In addition, the UI Department of Public Safety plays a vital role in campus safety.

Each night, Public Safety staff patrol the living areas, public areas inside and outside the residence halls from midnight to 6 a.m. These Public Safety campus partners who patrol the campus 24-hours a day including overnight rounds in the residence halls (combined with an intricate system of video cameras), come together to provide a high level of campus safety.

Accommodations for guests

We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to guests with disabilities. It is your responsibility to inform Conference Administration if you need a reasonable accommodation while staying in the residence hall or utilizing the market place for meals. It is important to communicate early and thoroughly with us to ensure your needs can be met most effectively. This request must be made as soon as possible, but no later than 21 days before your move in date. If you need to request an accommodation, you will need to complete a Summer Intern Reasonable Request for Accommodation form.

Confidentiality: Please note that personal information and documents received are considered confidential and shared only with staff charged with reviewing and implementing requests for an accommodation. This information will have no bearing on your general eligibility for housing.

Dietary accommodations

We want each guest to have a variety of healthy food options, no matter their dietary restrictions. We include specific nutrition and allergy information in our market place locations and the University Dining website. Specific dietary concerns should be emailed to our staff dietitians at (uhd-dietitian@uiowa.edu) several weeks before your move in date.
